Born in 1976 in the midlands of southern Italy, Paolo Picone aka Peak, started his musical activites in 1991, as a drummer at the age of 15. In 1995 he began to compose electronic music with samplers, drum machines and midi sequencers. He founded the Mou project in 2001, hailed by the press as one of the most important dub’n'bass bands in Italy. In 2003 Paolo founded the Soundabbast booking and events agency, setting up events with main international electronic artists as Deadbeat, Burnt Friedman, Retina.it, Rechenzentrum, etc… Paolo was also the coofounder of the AquietBump label which was launched in 2005. The “So Quiet” EP is the first release with this solo project on 2008. On 2009 the berliner label Ornaments has pressed his first vinyl “darksuite”, distribuited all over the world by WordandSound. July 2010: “So shy” Ep, an exploration into the theme of the “shyness”, influenced by Jamaican dub roots, electronic culture, noise and electroacoustic approach.

nato nel 1976 nell’entroterra dell’appennino meridionale, Paolo Picone comincia la sua attività musicale nel 1991. Nel 1995 approccia alle prime produzioni “elettroniche” attraverso l’utilizzo di campionatori, drum machine e midi sequencing e nel 2001 fonda il progetto Mou, band rivelazione che conquisterà già l’anno successivo il titolo di band vincitrice Arezzo Wave Festival 2002. Nel 2003 fonda l’agenzia di booking Soundabbast venendo così a contatto con artisti internazionali quali Burnt Friedman, Deadbeat, Retina.it, Rechenzentrum. Nel 2005 è coofondatore di AquietBump, etichetta di riferimento per la diffusione di digital dub e triphop in europa. Nel 2008 pubblica il suo primo lavoro “so quiet” per Aquietbump il cui tour lo porterà su prestigiosi palchi quali Maria Club/Berlin, Fusion Festival/Germany, Dub’n’Sauce festival/France, Espai Artistic Contemporai /Barcelona, Dov festival/Germany, Netaudio festival/Berlin, etc… Nel 2009 la Ornaments music di Berlino stampa in vinile colorato il suo primo 12” “Darksuite” distribuito in tutto il mondo da WordAndSound e ristampato già dopo la prima settimana di pubblicazione. Luglio 2010: “So Shy”, un viaggio intimista nel tema della “timidezza” a base di jamaican dub roots, techno culture e incursioni elettroacustiche.
